Sequel to parallel congresses of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Oyo State, held on Saturday, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has expressed willingness to accommodate those aggrieved members of the party, if they are willing to repent.
Noting that politics was usually ridden with agitation, interests, conflict and reconciliation, Ajimobi avowed that he would be magnanimous and humble to accept those aggrieved members who he expects to beg to return to the mainstream of the party.
Ajimobi who spoke just after the congress of the party held at Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan, however, said he will accommodate those persons who propagate progressive ethos and eschew brigandage and thuggery.
He charged Chief Akin Oke led state executive council which was returned elected through consensus, for another four years term, to continue to work for the unity and peace of the party and accommodate everybody.
“Politics is about giving and take, about reconciliation, interest and whether you like it or not, there will be people that will be angry, greedy, selfish, but the most important is to accommodate others.
“Even God allows conflict but in the end, he accommodates everybody. The Almighty God has been so gracious to allow the devil to exist. We should allow those who go against us to exist; eventually, they will come back.
“There is nothing wrong in people agitating, what is important is a leader must be magnanimous, humble in victory, accommodate others. But, we will not accommodate brigandage, thuggery, things against progressive ethos. We’ll accommodate those who are willing to repent.
“There is nothing wrong with people agitating, what is important is a leader must be magnanimous, humble in victory,” Ajimobi said.
As coordinated by the APC State Congress Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr Abdullahi Gwarzo, other members of the state executive council that emerged, through consensus are; Deputy Chairman, Mr Lekan Adeyemo; Secretary, Mr Mojeed Olaoya; Treasurer, Mr Ezekiel Ogunleke; Financial Secretary, Mr Tunde Oloyede; Publicity Secretary, Dr Azeez Olatunde; Woman Leader, Mrs Mabel Williams; Welfare, Mr Taiwo Ige.
Some of those who attended the Adamasingba congress are former Governor Adebayo Alao Akala; Senator Fatai Buhari; Oyo gubernatorial aspirant, Chief Niyi Akintola; federal lawmakers, Honourables Dada Awoleye, Saheed Akinade-Fijabi, Akeem Adeyemi; former Oyo Commissioner for Finance, Mr Zaccheaus Adelabu; former Deputy Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Bayo Adelabu; former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin; former Oyo Commissioner for Health, Dr Isaac Owolabi; Executive Commissioner, Stakeholders Management of Nigeria Communications Commission, Mr Sunday Dare.
Addressing journalists, Gwarzo said the committee was unaware of any other congress apart from the one it coordinated.
In line with the directive of the National Working Committee of the party, he, however, said the committee sold forms for the Congress to all APC members who had tellers, regardless what faction they belonged to.
“We are not aware of any other faction. APC is one and united. We don’t know of any other congress. We sold forms to all those other persons in the other group because they have tellers. If you have tellers, we give you forms. This is the venue recognized by us and security agencies.

“We are instructed by the National Working Committee to give forms to all you have tellers. It is not about recognizing another faction. We call on everybody to join the mainstream, that is, this new executive council,” Gwarzo said.
In his own remarks on the current state of the party, Alao Akala said he had offered himself to Ajimobi to lead the cause of reconciling all members of the party.
Rather than harmonizing, he said the party was keener on accommodating all aggrieved party members, bearing in mind the need for all members to see themselves as important.
“I don’t think there will be anything like harmonization, but we definitely we’ll accommodate. The process of reconciliation will start immediately. As a matter of fact, I have told the governor, that I will offer myself for that purpose to ensure we bring everybody together. We will accommodate one another to ensure everybody participates and feels important,” Alao Akala said.
