Mixed Feelings As Anambra State Government Embarks On Giving The State A Facelift

The government of Anambra State has on Friday, the 20th day of April, 2018, stormed the Ose Okwuodu market of the commercial city of Onitsha, demolishing what according to them were illegal structures erected across the area, as well as along the Old Market Road axis.
This was reportedly as a fulfilment to the claim made few weeks ago by the state government, to rid the Onitsha city of illegal structures as a means of decongesting the city.

This action of the government and her security outfits, roused several feelings among onlookers and shop owners alike, some seeing it as good riddance to bad mindset on the one hand, others saw the action as the government depriving the citizens of their means of survival and livelihood.
Numerous thoughts and opinions have graced the action which has seen people vent their hate for the governor’s actions and others appreciating the effort as being a step towards positive development.
